During an FBI-led dragnet in Florida on Tuesday, 10 members of an alleged neo-Nazi group were arrested while training near Orlando and Disney World for what they termed a “race war,” a federal law enforcement officer told the Law Enforcement Examiner last night.
The apprehensions resulted from information and evidence gathered by a confidential informant who had infiltrated the neo-Nazi organization known as American Front 17 several months ago, according to the arrest affidavit.
The federal affidavit stated: “The American Front (AF) is a military-styled, anti-Semitic, white supremacist, skinhead organization and is known as a domestic terrorist organization.”
The arrest affidavit revealed that the AF’s alleged “commander,” Marcus Faella, was “planning and preparing the AF for what [he believed would be] an inevitable race war” and he had boasted that he personally intended to kill blacks, Jews, immigrants and other minorities living in the United States.
Faella operated a heavily fortified paramilitary training center for the AF on his isolated property in St. Cloud, Florida, 10 miles away from the Walt Disney World theme parks, the affidavit stated.
The federal officer who anonymously provided the Law Enforcement Examiner with information said the AF commander had plotted to create a disturbance in front of Orlando’s City Hall. The AF was also allegedly experimenting with the creation of the weaponized biological toxin ricin.
Faella’s compound, where he regularly conducted firearms, explosives and tactical training for AF members and other neo-Nazi groups, was protected by two pit bull dogs, a barbed-wire fence and three military-style trenches. He reportedly installed a bullet-resistant wall and bullet-proof glass the trailer in which he lived and went as far as adding firing ports, according to the affidavit.
AF is part of a U.S. skinhead movement and an imitation of the original movement in Britain and other European countries under the name of the National Front. As with the American Front, the British group is frequently called skinheads since members go through the ritual of completely shaving their heads.
Both American and British neo-Nazis display body art (tattoos) including Swastikas, German crosses, and other insignia.
Upon their capture by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and local police officials, Faella and each one of his alleged followers were charged with paramilitary training, shooting into an occupied dwelling and evidence of prejudices while committing an offense, according to a written statement from the U.S Attorney’s Office.
Besides the 39-year old Faella, the FBI arrested Christopher Brooks, 27, of Palm Bay; Richard Stockdale, 23, of St. Cloud; Kent McLellan, 22, of St. Cloud; Patricia Faella, 36, of St. Cloud; Jennifer McGowan, 25, of Cocoa; Mark McGowan, 29, of Cocoa; Diane Stevens, 28, of Kissimmee; Paul Jackson, 25, of St. Cloud; and Dustin Perry, 21, of Kissimmee.
Brooks and Stockdale face an addition charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to their arrest reports.
