MLK, Jr., "I have a Dream!" & his niece, Alveda

American Minute with Bill Federer

AUGUST 28, 1963, at the Civil Rights March in Washington, D.C., Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., stated:

“I have a dream…where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.”

Martin Luther King continued:

“This will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning, ‘My country ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrims’ pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.'”

Martin Luther King concluded:

“When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, ‘Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!'”

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s niece, Alveda King, told Notre Dame High School students, September 14, 2011:

“A woman has the right to choose what she does with her body, but the baby is not her body. Where’s the lawyer for the baby? How can the dream survive if we murder the children?”

Alveda King told TheCall Detroit, November 11, 2011:

“In the 20th Century, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was called as a modern day Moses…My father, Rev. A.D. King, is  brother to Martin. Uncle M.L., Daddy, and their earthly father, Daddy King were preachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ . . . Daddy King rescued me from abortion in 1950. You can read the story in my book: HOW CAN THE DREAM SURVIVE IF WE MURDER THE CHILDREN? . . . Years ago when my mother wanted to abort me, Daddy King told her:

‘No. They are lying to you. She is not a lump of flesh. She is a little girl, with bright skin and bright red hair. She will be a blessing to many.’

So you see, this little girl who is part Irish, part African and part Native American is standing before you today to bear witness of Acts 17:26, that of One Blood, God made all people to live on earth in a Beloved Community, and one day, to live in Eternity with Him. So we are one human race, not separate races.”

Alveda King is pastoral associate and director of African-American outreach for Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries. She told Charisma Magazine, August 23, 2012:

“Traditional marriage . . . is ordained by God, one man and one woman.

People say if you look in the Old Testament, men had several wives. That was not God’s intent. He made a beautiful design for the family. But Satan came in and began to get some things tangled up. It took a very powerful and loving God to send his only begotten son to shed his blood and to correct that. In the shedding of the blood of Christ, marriage was restored to God’s original intent.”
