ACTION ALERT, EAGLE FORUM
Update: On Thursday, February 5th, the Senate voted for a third time to open debate and allow amendments on H.R. 240, the House-passed DHS bill. Unfortunately, this motion continued to be filibustered by the Democrats and Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) with cloture failing 52-48.
Leader McConnell once again filed a motion to reconsider this vote, allowing a re-vote to occur next week.
Continue to call your Senators: Tell Republicans to stand strong on the House-passed DHS bill that defunds amnesty; tell Democrats to vote to move to debate on the House-passed DHS bill! See below for helpful information.

UPDATE: Today, Wednesday, February 4th, the Senate again voted on cloture on the motion to proceed to debate H.R. 240, the House-passed bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). All Democrats and Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) once more defeated cloture by a vote of 53-47 (60 votes needed to proceed).
A THIRD vote to proceed to the House-passed bill will take place in the Senate at 11:30 a.m. THURSDAY morning. The only credible way to fund the Department is to begin debating the House-passed bill, and the Democrats are terrified of having to debate the President’s illegal amnesty.
They don’t want to talk about how President Obama’s actions:
- encourage and reward illegal activity
- destroy the economic interests of American workers already undermined by foreign labor
- are overwhelming USCIS, causing inadequate background checks and the diversion of resources
- make the newly amnestied eligible for refunds from the IRS for money earned while working illegally.
The Democrats and the Obama Administration are pulling out all the stops, even to the point of what is being reported as “veiled threats” to law enforcement around the country.
PLEASE CALL your Senators – both Republican and Democrat – Thursday morning before the 11:30 a.m. EST vote! Tell the Republicans to stand strong; tell the Democrats you want them to proceed to debate the House-passed bill.
