I ask once again, who won last November? It appears to me that Barack Obama and Ash Carter still run our Defense Department. And please, someone, tell me why I should believe otherwise? I have no issue with the improved rules of engagement, however, we’re still experiencing a leftist social engineering policy agenda in our military.
As reported by the Washington Times, “The Defense Department has given the green light to allow transgender U.S. citizens to enlist into the armed forces, a move that flies in the face of the White House’s plan to ban all transgender individuals from the U.S. military.
Transgender recruits will be allowed to enlist beginning Jan. 1 but will be subjected to a slew of physical, psychological and medical requirements before being considered for military service, Pentagon spokesman Maj. David Eastburn said Monday.
“Due to the complexity of this new medical standard, trained medical officers will perform a medical prescreen of transgender applicants for military service who otherwise meet all applicable applicant standards,” Maj. Eastburn told The Associated Press.
The new standards for transgender enlistment include certification that recruits have been deemed “clinically stable” in their preferred sex for 18 months, and do not suffer from marked stress or impairment tied to their selected gender during certain scenarios tied to military service. Transgender recruits must also show consistent and stable behavior, while on required hormone therapy for an 18-month period, the AP reported. Military recruiters also reserve the right to disqualify any recruit that suffers from “gender dysmorphia” or those with a chronic history of treatment for gender transition. Transgender individuals receiving hormone therapy also must be stable on their medication for 18 months.”
So, when did the Department of Defense dismiss a directive from the commander in chief? I guess it’s now, since we have the entrenched Obama deep state operatives burrowed in. I’ve never heard such insidious language in my life. According to the Pentagon spokesman, this new medical standard is “complex” — so then, why are we doing it? When did it become the mission of the U.S. military to accommodate a mental condition? How many new “trained medical officers” will the military require for this certification and prescreen process? Why must we add on new criteria for evaluation in our recruitment process for this accommodation? And what is this accommodation for a “preferred sex?” Doggone, there are only two: male and female, and if someone is confused about that fact, they’re not mentally stable. Who makes the determination on being “clinically stable?” If you must take medications to maintain your stability, is that who we want in our military?
Will it become incumbent upon the U.S. military and American taxpayers to ensure the gender dysphoric recruit is stable, providing them with their hormonal therapy?
The same day we have this announcement, we had another Islamic terror attack in NYC. We have not defeated the Islamist state of mind. And therefore, our national security focus should be on rebuilding our military capability and capacity. Instead we’re importing the culture du jour of the society into the military. We’re advocating and promoting the culture of the participation trophy.
We should be stating simply that in our military, not everyone gets to play. Why are we now going to monitor folks for “marked stress or impairment tied to their selected gender?” There can NEVER be any mental stability for those suffering from a mental condition forcing them to believe they’re a different gender. These are individuals who require specific mental attention, and that should not be incumbent upon our military. Does this mean that once again, the U.S. military will excuse traitorous behavior, such as that displayed by PVT Bradley Manning, because he was confused about his gender? Is someone going to have to provide waivers for these gender dysphoric individuals from deploying into combat zones because it could trigger stress and impairment?
This is not the movie M*A*S*H and Corporal Klinger…this is real life, and real lives are at stake. Our military isn’t about personal accommodations, trust me, but it appears this is changing.
But, didn’t President Donald Trump direct the military to restore the ban on “transgender” troops and began a process to discharge those in the military? So, why all the push back? Wasn’t this a lawful directive by the commander in chief to restore a previous policy? That policy had previously existed and not a single judicial activist had challenged it…as a matter of fact, no one challenged Obama revoking the ban. If there are those who deem President Trump’s directive as being unlawful, then why wasn’t President Obama’s? Simple, because this has nothing to do with the effectiveness of our military to close with and destroy the enemy, to fight our nation’s wars, and win. This is all about an ideological agenda, and it’s an agenda the American people voted against last November.
So, what part of this does SecDef James Mattis not get? Needless to say, at a time when we have a belligerent leader in North Korea, military expansion by China, Russian aggression, Iranian regional hegemonic dominance, and the proliferation of Islamic jihadism…this is what we close out 2017 with as a defense policy?
This is truly disappointing, and confirms that Obama is still running our Defense Department. And anyone disagreeing, please tell me, whose policy is this?
