Gotta Have Skin in the Game

BY ALLEN WEST

If you have been following the news and the happenings on Capitol Hill, members of the House GOP are pressuring Speaker Paul Ryan to do something about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

First of all, let’s remember that this is an unconstitutional executive action taken by President Obama. President Trump is not bound to adhere to this, and can easily issue an executive order to reverse this action taken by Obama, just as he has done in rolling back Obama’s insidious regulations.

What is unnerving about this House GOP endeavor, led by California Republican Representative Jeff Dunham, is that I do not believe those who have decided to quit should be voting on important legislation such as the sovereignty of our Constitutional Republic. It’s simple: if you do not want to run for office again, then you do not get to make these types of monumental decisions that have lasting residual effects. As we say on the streets, ya gotta have skin in the game, and these quitters, including Speaker Paul Ryan, do not.

President Trump made an overly generous offer in reference to DACA — no I will not use the term “Dreamers,” as that is politicized, and all American children, natural born and those here legally, are Dreamers. But, President Trump was not about to give away the kit and kiboodle to the progressive socialist left, and they walked away. My concern is that the spineless members of the House and Senate GOP will cower, cave, acquiesce to the left. And for what?

We are a nation of laws, and the rule of law is preeminent. We cannot go forth and just grant a broad scale amnesty without doing that which the American people, who have skin in the game, have demanded: security.

We need to end the visa lottery and chain migration visa programs and move towards a merit-based system.

We must end the stupidity of sanctuary states and cities, and reaffirm that it is illegal to enact such policies. Perhaps Rep. Dunham should pay attention to the grassroots revolt in his home state. There needs to be a full implementation of the E-Verify system and an end to taxpayer funded benefits to those here illegally.

Most importantly, we must develop an integrated border security system that includes a border wall.

If the five different legislative measures which Rep. Jeff Dunham wishes to bring to the House floor do not include these points, it must not be supported. As well, Speaker Paul Ryan, who has decided to quit, should not be in the position to make these determinations any longer. He, in my assessment, along with the others who have made a similar decision, have no representative skin in the game anymore.

Why is this important? Who has skin in the game?

As reported by Fox News:

“An Uber driver charged with raping a passenger earlier this month was able to walk free because officials failed to notify immigration agents about his arrest, authorities said.

Frederick Amfo, 30, an illegal immigrant from Ghana, was arrested after a female passenger said that on April 8 he forced her into the backseat of his car and raped her, police said. Hours after he was released from police custody, he fled to his native Ghana. He was supposed to surrender his passport but did not. “A loss for words,” Emily Murray, the victim who insisted on being identified by the press, told Boston 25. “I was angry, I’m still angry. I’m confused.”

A spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement told Boston 25 that a federal immigration detainer should have been placed on Amfo. Weymouth police claimed it forwarded the detainer to Quincy District Court.

“The court chose not to forward the detainer to Norfolk County, allowing for his subsequent release on bail from custody,” the agency said in a statement. “This case highlights the potential dangers of policies that prohibit cooperation with ICE.” The court told the Patriot Ledger that there was no record of an immigration detainer at the time of his arraignment.

A ruling last year made Massachusetts a sanctuary state – meaning illegal immigrants accused of a crime cannot be transferred to immigration officials. Murray claims on April 8 she was trying to get home when Amfo allegedly locked the doors to his vehicle and sexually assaulted her in the backseat.”

Emily Murray has skin in the game, along with all the countless others who have been victims of criminal illegal immigrants. No, I am not tying DACA recipients to criminal illegal immigrants, but there are reported instances of DACA recipients committing crimes, and they should be immediately charged and deported.

Kate Steinle lost her life because of sanctuary state and city policies, along with a porous border that enabled her murderer — that’s what he is — to return to the United States after being deported some five times. Kate Steinle’s family has skin in the game, Rep. Dunham, and Speaker Ryan. What message does it send to Emily Murray and the family of Kate Steinle, the two individuals, criminal illegal immigrants, who committed murder and rape are free.

Yes, Frederick Amfo raped an American woman and just got on an airplane and went back to Ghana. Kate Steinle’s murderer has the nerve to bring a lawsuit against his prosecution. This is the lack of respect and regard these illegal immigrants have for our country, our women, and our rule of law. We do not own them a damn thing, unless you are one of those who have no skin in the game and are willing to play politics with the lives of Americans like Ms. Murray and Ms. Steinle.

But what is also rather disturbing is that Massachusetts is a state that has become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants, and how did this guy become an Uber driver?

Massachusetts also has some of the most restrictive gun control measures in America — yes, the place where our fight for liberty and independence began with a musket shot. Maybe, just maybe, if Emily Murray had her Second Amendment right she would have sent Amfo to his grave, or at least to the hospital. Instead, Emily Murray was rendered a subject, a victim, an unarmed target of an illegal immigrant who had no business, no right to be in these United States.

And, sadly, Emily Murray was put in that situation because of politicians who have no skin in the game. I think we need to send Rep. Jeff Dunham of California a little message.
