Really Bad Optics

I am sitting in the Hilton Gardens Inn in Chesapeake, VA, watching the news, and the scene is rather disconcerting. It appears that the progressive socialist left, believing that they have an upper hand, is presenting the American people with a really bad optic. To what do I refer? The scenes of illegal immigrants, oops, sorry, “asylum seekers,” sitting atop a border fence near Tijuana Mexico, shouting, “¡Si, Se Puede!” — “Yes we Can!”

Of course there are liberal progressive “greeters” awaiting on the American side ready and willing to welcome them into our Constitutional Republic, America. The bad optics? A complete disregard of our sovereignty and our laws.

And, no, Nancy Pelosi, your very weak attempt at trying to shame Christians into surrendering our Nation doesn’t hold water with me — another bad optic.

Just imagine, we have leftist lawyers in Mexico providing “coaching” to these individuals on how to lie to our border patrol agents in order to gain access to the United States. Yet another bad optic for the left, as they have evidenced that they care less about our rule of law, as opposed to undermining our security, your safety.

As reported by Fox News:

“U.S. immigration lawyers are telling Central Americans in a caravan of asylum-seekers that traveled through Mexico to the U.S. border in California that they face possible separation from their children and detention for many months. “We are the bearers of horrible news,” a Los Angeles lawyer said during a break from legal workshops for the migrants at three Tijuana, Mexico, locations where about 20 lawyers gave free information and advice. “That’s what good attorneys are for.”

The migrant caravan on Sunday will test the Trump administration’s tough rhetoric criticizing the caravan when the migrants begin seeking asylum by turning themselves in to border inspectors at San Diego’s San Ysidro border crossing. The Trump administration has been tracking the caravan, calling it a threat to the U.S. since it started in late March near the Mexico-Guatemala border. Attorney General Jeff Sessions called the caravan “a deliberate attempt to undermine our laws and overwhelm our system,” pledging to send more immigration judges to the border to resolve cases if needed.”

As I watch the scenes of young illegal men sit atop of the border fence I can truly say, this does not lend itself to sympathy. Knowing that Mexico allowed individuals to enter their country illegally, and enabled their transit through Mexico to our border is disturbing. In essence, we have a disregard by Mexico of our sovereignty and laws, and how are we supposed to negotiate, in good faith, a new NAFTA?

These individuals are claiming that they are seeking asylum from gang violence in Central America. Well, shouldn’t ending gang violence in Central America be the responsibility of those governments? After all, we have a gang violence issue here in America, we are not sending our citizens south seeking asylum…we are cracking down on MS-13. Oh, did I mention that MS-13 is a Central American gang that has successfully infiltrated, by way of these insidious immigration policies such as “catch and release?”

These young males should be turned back. If you are agile enough to scale our border fence, sit on top, and shout “¡Si Se Puede!” this is not the place for you. We can ill afford a Germany, Angela Merkel-like, a repeat folly here in the United States.

What should happen with these individuals, if they do cross and set feet onto sovereign American territory? They should be apprehended and detained. They should be transported immediately to a detention facility and not allowed release. They should have a date set to appear before federal immigration judges there, and held until those hearings take place.

As well, the questioning of these individuals should continue, since they have been so well prepared by these leftist immigration lawyers.

Why? Why does the progressive socialist left so greatly embrace the issue of illegal immigration? How can they truly believe this is a winning issue and proposition? The optics of illegals sitting atop our border security fence does one thing…reinforce the demand of having a border security wall.

But, that was not the only bad optic of this weekend. It appears that the White House Correspondents Dinner — which President Trump again did not attend — presented the progressive socialist left at its best. The person chosen to be funny, Michelle Wolf, utterly failed in doing so. Her vicious and vitriolic assaults on White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders reflected the obstinate condescension of the left for all to see and know about. The optics were so bad that even some leftist journalists were appalled…too late.

And let us not forget the aberrant behavior of Montana Senator Jon Tester who basically lied about White House physician Admiral Ronny Jackson.

How do Constitutional Conservatives, Americans, respond? The best optic comes in November when the left is once again pummeled in the ballot box. That is the best response to their nastiness, and hatred of our Nation.

Oh yeah, stand by for more bad optics this week from the anti-gun progressive socialist leftists at the 147th National Rifle Association Annual Meeting and Convention (NRAAM) taking place in Dallas. You’re gonna see more leftist ugliness and their desire to undermine our constitutional right to keep and bear arms…in other words, protect and defend ourselves.

And why do Americans need to protect and defend themselves? Because of the chuckleheads who were sitting atop our border fence…just ask Kate Steinle’s family.
